anonymous_2We have noticed lately that there are many new people who have been visiting our site and who have been making comments and sharing their experiences.

Since our reader base does tend to change frequently, we thought now would be a good time to repeat a fun exercise that was last done back in January of 2014.

Basically, we’d like to know more about you guys.   And we’re pretty sure that you all kind of enjoy getting to  know one another a little better as well.

Here we have this blog that approximately 1000 people visit each day (depending on what day of the week it is), yet everyone is anonymous.  We all choose monikers or fake names to help secure our privacy – us included.  Nobody really knows who anyone else really is. Readers can only be familiar with fake names and the situations that apply to that persona.

It just goes with the territory.

So let’s try to have a little fun and get to know each other more – without jeopardizing our anonymity of course!

Things to consider…

  • Where are you from?
  • How many kids do you have?
  • What’s your occupation?
  • What is your favorite sports team?
  • What’s your favorite TV show?
  • What is your favorite city to visit?
  • What do you like to do in your spare time?
  • Where do you dream of traveling to?
  • What is your favorite beer and how many can you drink before you get drunk?
  • What’s your favorite food?
  • If someone gave you a 10 million dollars what would you do with it?
  • What is the craziest thing you want to do before you die?
  • Whatever you would like to say.  Let your imagination be your guide!

It goes without saying that we expect all of you who comment regularly to participate and hopefully many of you who like to stay behind the scenes will join in as well. If you’ve shared the last time we did this, that’s ok.  You can always update things or just share new stuff about yourself.

I’ll get things rolling…

(Now, I’m repeating much of what I shared the last time, so sorry if you’ve read this before.)

Both Linda and I are 53 years young.  We have three great kids – a son who just finished his first year as a special education teacher and two girls who are now juniors in college.  Linda is an elementary school teacher and I’m chief cook and bottle washer of a couple of very small businesses.

I was born in Chicago which is one of our all-time favorite cities to visit.  I think my favorite city to visit though is San Francisco and my favorite city to party in is Nashville.

I am a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye fan and vow that when I die, my ashes will be spread over their football stadium.  (Not sure Linda will honor that request).  By the way, in my second life I’m either going to be a star professional baseball player or a lead guitarist for a blues band.  I haven’t made up my mind just yet.

When we’re not working we like to get outdoors.  We walk, hike, bike and kayak as much as possible and are in pretty good shape physically.  We also occasionally get the opportunity to rock climb, go backpacking and/or car camping.  On July 6th we will be embarking on a family vacation  to the New England area, with most of our time being spent in a tent in Acadia National Park.

Listening to live music is another one of our favorite things to do, with blues and classic rock being our favorites.  I don’t think that I have an all-time favorite band but have always enjoyed bands such as Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, The Eagles, Bad Company, Van Halen, etc.

I do about 99% of the cooking in our house while Linda does all the baking.  Her chocolate cake from scratch is the best.  I don’t have a favorite food per se, though I love Mexican cuisine and anything that is hot and spicy.  I put hot sauce or jalapenos on just about everything.

Linda in currently on a nutrition kick where it seems as though she puts spinach in just about everything she eats or drinks and is detoxing one thing or another regularly.  I follow her lead to a point but I’m a sucker for good beer and hot wings which aren’t exactly good detox foods!

Oh, and I don’t have a favorite beer either.  I drink any craft beer that is on sale!

That’s all I can think of for now.  Maybe I’ll add some more in the comment section later.

We look forward to reading the comments.

      Where are you from?
      The midwest

How many kids do you have?
2 kids, son still in high school, daughter finishing her degree this year.

      What’s your occupation?
      IT…mostly software

What is your favorite sports team?
The Packers, it’s a working man’s team, owned by the fans.

What is your favorite city to visit?
Boston – great history, great institutions

Big fan of DogFishHead 60 or 90 minute IPA. I really dig Raging Bitch by Flying Dog. And I love Steadman’s artwork on FD, have since the Hunter Thompson days. I like Deschutes in Wisconsin, Fat Tire, Diesel Punk is a good cheaper IPA. I will also go to the local microbreweries and have one or two. I limit myself anymore. At my age (48), I spend way too much time recovering if I have too many!!!

Unfortunately everything. Gotta hit the gym after vacation.

If someone gave you a 10 million dollars what would you do with it?
Travel for a while, fix up my house and sell it, golf a lot, make sure my kids had trusts and help out my extended family where I could.

What is the craziest thing you want to do before you die?
I’ve done my fair share of crazy, so at this point it’s probably pretty lame, but golfing St. Andrews is up there, getting a guitar lesson from a legend like clapton or alex lifeson or EVH, would be about as wild as I’d get. I would like to be in Dublin when the townspeople read Ulysses by James Joyce.

Wouldn’t mind seeing some great landmarks, but anything like jumping out of a plane or bungee jumping would make me barf more than anything else.

      • Strengthrequired

I would like to visit Ireland too, some ancestry from there. Just need to build up the courage to get on a plane, hate planes.
bungy jumping of jumping out of a plane doesn’t sit well for me either. I’m chicken…. Lol

    • Heartbroken

We are both from Ohio. We currently live in North Carolina. We have been married for 27 years and are in our late 40’s. I am a caregiver on a military base and get to play with infants all day. He is a retired marine and work on military aircraft as a civilian. We have 4 children, one in college, one in the military, one does tile work and the last one is in high school. We are huge Steeler fans and enjoy drinking coors light while we watch football. I can drink about 6 beers and still function quite well. Lol We enjoy cooking together every night and listening to music. We also enjoy swimming in the pool in our back yard. I would love to visit Las Vegas one day and our favorite place to visit is a small town in Ohio where we were raised. My youngest is a huge Ohio State fan and hopes to attend after HS. I visit your site daily and it has helped me cope with my husbands emotional affair, although we have a long way to go.

      • Doug

I didn’t think people from Ohio were allowed to be Steeler fans! Go Bengals! 😉

    • Tabs

I was born, raised, and now live in Hawaii (Honolulu). I have two kids, a daughter (24) and son (21). My daughter, fortunately (or unfortunately, however you look at it) is my in-house therapist. As a USC grad, you’d think I’d like football. But I love pro basketball. Currently, I don’t really have a favorite team, but will cheer for any one playing against Lebron James. Sorry Cav fans. If I had $10M, I’d buy myself a stable full of horses and ride all day. I’d also take a week or two off for an equestrian vacation through Ireland and Scotland. I don’t think I have a favorite food or beverage. And, I’m a light weight when it comes to drinking. I usually get sick before getting drunk. The only upside is that I’ve never had a hangover.

      Strengthrequired, what about you?

( maybe even buy a one way ticket for the ow and her family to her homeland back to her family, far away from me)

I have two married daughters. One is 39 years old and the other is 35 years old.
I am retired but a Nanny to my three grandsons age 6 and a set of twin boys age 2 years old and one more on the way, Whew!

I like to visit New York City. My husband and I love the jersey shore, dinners out, vacations, walking and antiquing. And I love, love music.

Well 10 million dollars is a lot of money. I would give to my family first, then fund my grandchildrens college and then give to our many charities.
I would like to be around for awhile so nothing crazy at my age

      • Doug

So what do you think of the new Orange is the New Black season? We watched the first two episodes and were a little disappointed. If you’ve watched more than two episodes, let me know if it’s worth watching more!

        • Patsy50

          Doug

I like the show. I am on season 3 episode 5. Interesting to see how the inmates got themselves in a situation that landed them in prison. It doesn’t compair to Breaking Bad which I loved and looking forward to the next season of the Affair. Will let you know how that goes.

    • Antiskank

Interesting bunch, no slouches here! This betrayal thing can happen to anyone!!!

I am from western Canada and work as a hospital pharmacy supervisor. I have been with my H since I was 16! This year would be our 41st anniversary if I were still counting. We live on a large acreage in a rural area with wild animals strolling thru most days.

We have a daughter about to turn 40 and a son,37. Two grand kids that I love beyond measure:)

In the little bit of spare time I have, when not with family, I like to hike, rock climb, ride motorbikes, target shoot, read, and cook. I am an excellent baker and love it!

I love to visit Cuba, but my dream vacation would be an African Safari.

I can’t even tolerate the smell of beer (or coffee) and am not really fond of most alcohol. I drink the occasional glass of wine or cocktail but would always get sick before getting drunk. Cheap drunk!

I don’t have a favourite single food, I like them all! ….well except mushrooms, shellfish and tofu.

10 million dollars sounds like a lot of money!! After sharing with my family, I would build a place on my property for a live in vet for my menagerie of animals; I Love animals! With the remainder, I would contribute to charities.

I’ve done a few crazy thing in my time. The only crazy thing left that I would like to do before I die is fall totally in love and be loved completely in return!

      Happy Canada Day, all!

      • Doug

It sounds like you live in my dream location. Are you in the mountains – or at least close by?

        • antiskank

Yes, in fact I live on one of the smaller local mountains with many hiking trails. The surrounding mountains are absolutely beautiful. People come from all over the world for our great fishing, hiking, climbing, biking trails, and water sports among other things.I know many other places have these things too but I guess I’m a little biased!!

          • Doug

Sounds like a dream location! I’m very jealous.

    • Rachel

      Hey Doug,
Is there anyway you could set up a live chat room on this site?

      • Doug

Hey Rachel, I’ve actually looked into it in the past but there weren’t really any very good options as they used too much resource and could possibly cause the site to go down. That was some time ago so I will look into it again and hope that there are some new options out there. I do think it’s a good idea but it may be a few weeks before I can get to it.

    • TryingHard

      Hey Doug
Maybe Scott can help you with the chat part of the website 🙂 Scott you listening ? I think it would be fun. I know it’s weird but I’ve grown attached to some folks on this site. I’ve noticed Gizfield is scarce and I miss her and her no bullshit attitude. I hope she’s ok. Eyes Opened hasn’t been around lately either. Ugh my empathic side is showing, oops. A chat site here might be fun.

We watch Orange is the new Black and have gotten to about the 5th episode. It’s really disturbing and pretty distasteful. I’m not judging I know it’s supposed to be real but it’s a little too graphic and real at times. OO House of Cards, graphic and disturbing if you’re interested in psycho/sociopaths. I’m starting to think I need to watch only kitty cat videos on YouTube 🙂 very calming.

      • Doug

Yes, I’ve thought a chat would be good for some time now. I promise I’ll look into it when we get back from vacation.
I hear you about Orange is the New Black. Season 2 had some pretty graphic scenes in it, that’s for sure. You can watch your kitty-cat videos and I’ll stick to my Nat Geo shows.

      • gizfield

Hi, Trying! I’m fine, just been busy. It was exciting to read your comment and see my name. Glad everyone is ok! And thank you for the nice compliment about my attitude, lol.

        • Strengthrequired

Giz, hope all is well. You do have a great attitude, have to say..
Take care, come back soon and let us know how your going.

      • Scott

Doug pointed out the reality which is a lot of chat tools use a lot of resources, can be expensive and are often operated at the expense of the site. He’d need some web design help to integrate it but punch out to a unique site/server. My bet is there’s probably some tools that would fit, but it would also require a lot of integration and design.

Sorry the reply took so long. Been out on my own vacation. Got some nibbles on the old lure. My son caught a nice bass. Which made me happy!

        • TryingHard

          Scott

How cool is it that you went on vacation with your step children. And how wonderful that you developed a relationship with them separate from your relationship with their biological mother. It must be a very gratifying feeling to have that kind of attachment. I’m happy for you. You are proof that family is more than just blood relations. And bass are awfully fun to catch!

    • Heartbroken

Lol Doug! You’re allowed to be Steeler fans living in Ohio if Pittsburgh is an hour away and Cincinnati is 6. Plus Bengals suck!

      • Doug

Ha! A true Steeler fan! Lol. We had season tickets to the Bengals for years (unfortunately it was mostly during the ‘lost decade’ when they were terrible) but there was nothing better than beating the Steelers and watching their towel carrying obnoxious fans all walk out of the stadium together. Too bad those wins didn’t happen more often! HaHa. The only team we hate more are the Brownies!

        • gizfield

Incredibly, my roommate in college (in Tennessee) was from Pittsburgh and she had one of those nasty little terrible towels. She tacked it on her bulletin board and I hated it. This was the early 80s and they had won like a gagillion super bowl bowls. Hated that too, lol.
